Flow Chair
A Portmanteau Combining a Lounge Chair and a Shelf
This project was constructed using a single piece of 8’ x 4’ plywood. My approach to using the material involved creating curvilinear forms from a hard object, which resulted in four forms that comprise the chair’s legs, armrests, and support for the sling seat and shelf. The shape of each piece is derived from 7” and 3.5” circles, and the faux leather slings mimic the curves of the wooden pieces. All the pieces have been rounded over to give the chair a touchable, inviting, and playful quality.
